Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Reporting to the Director of Student Life, the Manager, Student Leadership and Activities fosters a vibrant and inclusive campus community by planning, coordinating, and overseeing student engagement programs, events, and activities that support departmental and college goals. This position manages student organizations, college-wide events, and assigned budgets, collaborates with campus stakeholders, supports departmental outreach efforts, and evaluates program effectiveness to enhance the student experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and coordinate student-focused programs that align with the college goals and values, fostering a sense of belonging and engagement
  • Plan and oversee college-wide events, programs, and traditions, ensuring they reflect the college goals and values while encouraging student involvement. Manage or support the marketing, communications, and outreach initiatives for the department to increase awareness, participation, and impact of initiatives
  • Hire, train, schedule, develop, and monitor departmental staff
  • Build and maintain cross-functional relationships with campus leaders, students, and employees, to foster an iBelong environment
  • Manage budgets for assigned areas, including allocation of special funding requests for cultural programming, student engagement, and student organizations
  • Collaborate with campus leaders, student organizations, and college administration to support initiatives that enhance student involvement and leadership experiences
  • Develop, plan, and deliver leadership development programs for students. May include conferences, retreats, series, and individual sessions
  • Participate in and/or lead special projects that enrich the overall student experience, as needed
  • Ensures compliance for various LSC, state, and federal requirements related to student programming, student organizations, and campus activities
  • Collect and analyze program data and participant feedback to evaluate engagement programs, identify opportunities for improvement, and support ongoing program effectiveness
  • Serve on college committees, as assigned, to provide input on student engagement efforts and support student success initiatives
  • Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with college students in extracurricular/co-curricular settings
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Budget Management, Facilities Management, Supervisory Role
Salary

Hiring salary range is $54,528 - $62,708.

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education. Should you receive an offer of employment from Lone Star College, the resume submitted in the application process will be utilized to calculate your salary offer.
