Job Definition

A person who operates all District equipment vehicles used in the installation and maintenance of transmission and distribution systems. This position is under the direction of Line Foreman and Construction Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Three (3) years of experience driving heavy-duty vehicles and operating various types of heavy equipment utilized by the construction industry, OR
  • Completion of a certified Equipment Operator Apprentice program OR the District’s Equipment Operator-in-Training program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

License, Certification, or Testing:

  • Valid Washington State Driver License with a good driving record.
  • Valid current Washington State Commercial Driver License (Class A) within 6 months from job start date.
  • Subject to DOT pre-employment screening (immediately), and DOT regulatory random drug testing upon obtaining Commercial Driver License.
  • Obtain valid CPR and First Aid certificates within 3 months from job start date.
  • Successful completion of the following sequential testing process; applicants/bidders must pass each of the preceding steps to be eligible to move to the next step in the testing process (not required for candidates that have completed the District’s Equipment Operator-in-Training program):
    • Pass Entry Helper strength test.
    • Pass Cross-Arm build test.
    • Pass Equipment Operator test.
    • Pass a joint collaborative interview process.
    • Pass pre-placement physical exam (to be done after verbal job offer)
