Job Purpose:&nbsp;The Instructor for the OTA Program is responsible for providing educational lectures and training opportunities for OTA students in compliance with ACOTE accreditation standards and Walters State Community College policies and procedures.
Essential Job Functions:

<li>Contribute to the OTA curriculum design by participating in the development, evaluation, and revision of instructional materials including syllabi course plans, objectives, laboratory activities, teaching materials, and evaluation tools as well as prepare the syllabi, course materials, examinations, and establish and complete goals for individual and department.</li>
<li>Participate in curriculum design, strategic planning, recruiting, advising, departmental, divisional, faculty, and college committees and boards as well as accreditation activities.</li>
<li>Schedule times to meet with students to advise current and prospective OTA and health program students according to WSCC and OTA Program policies as well as participate in the admissions process for all students assigned by the program director.</li>
<li>Communicate with the student(s) the objective and responsibilities associated with the course while providing classroom and lab instruction to ensure the course learning and student learning outcomes are achieved at a level consistent with OTA standards and in the most efficient style to promote student success.</li>
<li>Adhere to the policies and procedures of Walters State Community College, the Health Division, and the Occupational Therapy Assistant program.</li>
<li>Comply with class schedules as to dates of classes, time in class and final exam schedule. Start class in a timely manner. Arrive early to class to be prepared for the students.</li>

Required Qualifications:

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Elizabethton is accepting applications for a dedicated and knowledgeable Full-Time Associate Instructor to assist in both the Automotive and Diesel technology programs. The successful candidate will work closely with lead instructors to support hands-on learning, lab setup, student guidance, and classroom preparation to ensure high-quality educational experiences for students pursuing careers in automotive and diesel technology.
This position requires strong technical knowledge in automotive and/or diesel systems, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to supporting student success in a hands-on learning environment. Candidates must hold an ASE Instructor Certification or be willing to obtain it within six (6) months of hire.
Minimum Qualifications:

<li>Experience or training in automotive and/or diesel repair and maintenance.</li>

<li>Prepare, maintain, and organize tools, equipment, and instructional materials.</li>
<li>Support students during lab exercises and provide guidance on safe and effective practices.</li>
<li>Monitor lab safety and ensure compliance with industry standards and program protocols.</li>
<li>Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain an engaging and supportive learning environment.</li>
<li>Maintain accurate attendance and classroom documentation as required.</li>
<li>Communicate effectively with program leadership and staff.</li>

Salary:&nbsp; $53,438-$61,582/Commensurate with Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
Working Conditions:
<ul>
<li>This is a full-time position, scheduled Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., totaling 37.5 hours per week.</li>

Instructional support hours are expected during Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

<li>Regular use of a computer is required for communication, documentation, and instructional preparation.</li>
<li>Duties require normal periods of standing, sitting, and walking throughout the day.</li>
<li>Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, and stoop, stand, bend, and perform hands-on demonstrations and work-based projects, with or without reasonable accommodation.</li>
