Position Summary
The Assistant Softball Coach-Assistant/Recruiting Coordinator is responsible for serving in all phases of a competitive Division 1 softball program in accordance with the University of the Incarnate Word, Southland Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. This position also assists in the daily management of all recruiting functions. The Assistant Softball Coach-2nd Assistant reports to Head Softball Coach.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Must have good communication skills necessary to direct recruiting efforts through fall and spring signing periods.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment as needed.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, via social media and in writing.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
• Ability to effectively market and promote UIW softball.
• Ability to effectively conduct live batting practice.
• Ability to consistently follow the Mission of the University.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree.

Required Work Experience
One (1) year of relevant coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level. Note that one (1) year of NCAA college softball playing experience will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with synergy and ARMS systems.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Must have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.

Work Hours
Business hours of Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm with flexibility; extended hours as required, including weekends, evenings and some holidays based on team schedule.

Physical Demands

• Typical for coach in this sport to include ability to lift equipment or materials weight up to 25 lbs waist high.
• Ability to effectively move about to appropriately demonstrate plays and drills in this sport, as well as sideline coach during games.
