Director of Development-AthleticsUIW MissionPosition SummaryThe Director of Development-Athletics serves as a key member of the university's advancement team responsible for overseeing annual giving strategy and programming for Athletics. Specifically, position will develop and execute targeted strategies to increase alumni and friends giving through qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of benefactors leading to growth in major and annual giving for Athletics. The Director of Development-Athletics reports to the Senior Director of Development for Special Projects.Essential FunctionsJob DutiesKnowledge Skills and Abilities• Strong knowledge of current trends in alumni engagement, moves management, prospect research, wealth analysis and business.• Well-developed interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication skills; an aptitude for critical thinking and problem-solving; ability to work well under pressure and maintain flexibility.• Highly developed relationship building skills.• Strong computer skills in MS Office and fundraising databases such as Raiser's Edge.• Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify understand and interpret personal compensation, private company, securities holdings, and other financial information from a variety of sources.• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external constituents with multiple personality types, consistently exhibiting a level of professional maturity, judgment and decisiveness that motivates colleagues and inspires confidence.• Demonstrated ability to research and critically review information with the proven ability to exercise sound judgment as to the relevance of information, the manner of its collection and the delivery to various stakeholders.• Fast-paced and results oriented with the ability to work in a timely manner with multiple deadlines and competing requirements.• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.• Maturity and flexibility to support multiple program areas, independently manage multiple assignments, and shift priorities in accordance with need.• Strong public speaking skills.• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.• Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required EducationBachelor's Degree.Required Work Experience• Five (5) years of professional fundraising or sales experience.• Two (2) years of experience coordinating stewardship events and activities.Preferred Qualifications• Master's Degree.• Experience working in donor outreach, engagement, or fundraising within a higher education setting.Required Certifications, Licenses or RegistrationsMust have a valid driver license, driving record that is insurable by UIW insurance carrier, and be at least 21 years of age, as required to drive for UIW.Work HoursMonday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals, to include evenings and weekends as necessary.
