Position Summary
St. Anthony Catholic High School, a private, college preparatory High school for young men and women, is seeking a Social Studies Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. All teachers are expected to teach within the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School and our Core Values of Honesty & Integrity; Community; Service & Social Justice; Scholarship; and Holistic Education. The English Teacher reports to the School Principal.

St. Anthony Catholic High School prepares young men and women for positions of responsibility and leadership through a college preparatory curriculum based on Catholic values and traditions.

Essential Functions

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
• Demonstrates oral and written proficiency.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply best practices for classroom management.
• Knowledge of and ability to differentiate instruction and apply academic accommodations.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong technology skills.

Required Education
Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies or equivalent, or a Bachelor's Degree in in alternate field with a minimum of 24 credit hours in Social Studies.

Required Work Experience
At least six (6) months of direct teaching or student teaching experience at the high school level. Note that relevant experience working with high school students will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous high school teaching experience.
• Minimum 12 college credit hours in education.
• Teacher certification.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
The Archdiocese of San Antonio requires non-certified teachers to have 12 college credit hours in education. Faculty hired without the 12 hours are placed on a deficiency plan and must obtain the 12 hours within two (2) years at their own expense.

Work Hours
Mon to Fri 7:30 am-4:00 pm (see faculty handbook) Some night and weekend work dependent on student activity sponsorship and special events such as Open House.

Typical for faculty in this discipline.
