Under supervision, assists the Environmental Health program in Walton County to include inspection/permitting/consultation for the Food Service Program, On-Site Sewage Program, Body Art Program, Tourist Accommodation Program, Public Swimming Pool Program, and Rabies Control to ensure compliance of state rules and regulations. &nbsp;Investigate all assigned health-related complaints received and perform all environmental health office duties such as filing, letter writing, data entry, etc. Use of personal vehicle at State reimbursement rate will be required.As an Environmental Health Specialist within the Walton County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways. <dt><h4>Job Responsibilities</h4></dt><ul><li>Conducts scheduled and surprise inspections of assigned facilities and settings, which may include restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools, commercial and industrial settings, recreational areas, and other settings with applicable safety and health requirements.</li><li>Enforces applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations including food handling regulations, sanitation regulations.</li><li>Investigates food poisoning and similar community health outbreaks to determine probable origins, causes, and available mitigating or corrective actions.</li><li>Implements environmental protection regulations and health standards for business, public, and residential areas.</li><li>Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><dt><h4>Minimum Qualifications</h4></dt>Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which includes the completion of 27 semester or 40 quarter hours in laboratory sciences (e.g., chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.).
