The Birthing Center is comprised of three units: Labor &amp; Delivery, Mother Baby, and Newborn Nursery. The staff in the Birthing Center collaborates to provide families with a patient-centered birth experience. The Newborn Nursery unit cares for newborns that are 35 weeks gestational age or older. The nursery provides care to newborns during the initial transition phase from birth to discharge. Mothers are encouraged to room-in with their newborns to promote maternal bonding, care-taking, and breast feeding The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistant); and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
